Welcome back to the Sanchez Elementary School Library!

Dear Sanchez Community,

I am excited to announce that the library will be open to parents and guardians every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning from 7:50 - 8:35. If you decide to volunteer in our library, you may also check out during any volunteer hours.

The library program has some exciting opportunities in store for Sanchez students this year:

• Our program will be promoting the very best of children’s literature to your student with activities designed to help them enjoy the stories even more.
• Students will also be creating, writing and engaging in learning activities that connect to their learning in the classroom, at home, and in the community. All students’ identities, home, cultural, and community knowledges are valued and leveraged for teaching and learning in the library.
• I will do my very best to get (or keep) students “hooked on reading” by recommending specific reading materials to each individual whenever possible.
• I will add hundreds of the latest children’s books in both English & Spanish and include books that students request.
• At each grade level, students will learn research and computer skills suited to their developmental needs. Students will also learn Digital Citizenship, helping your child make safe and ethical decisions when using the Internet.
• I will support social and emotional Learning through literature and by incorporating mindfulness, breathing techniques, and mindful movement into our library lessons.
• I will be working with classroom teachers to help them find materials especially suited to the individual interests and abilities of your child.
• There will be special events including: author visits, guest readers, book character dress-up day, multiple book giveaways, and reading promotions like Reading Across Genres Bingo and Readathon.

I am excited about this coming year and am committed to making the library our students’ favorite place in the school!

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a la Biblioteca Sánchez!

Querida Comunidad Sanchez, Me complace anunciar que la biblioteca estará abierta para padres y cuidadores todos los lunes, miércoles y viernes por la mañana de 7:50 a 8:35. Si usted/es deciden ser voluntarios de la biblioteca, también pueden sacar prestado libros durante el horario de voluntariado.

El programa de la biblioteca tiene muchas oportunidades interesantes para los estudiantes este año:

• Nuestro programa promoverá lo mejor de la literatura infantil para los estudiantes con actividades diseñadas para ayudarles a disfrutar aún más las historias.
• os estudiantes también crearán, escribirán y participarán en actividades de aprendizaje que se conectan con su aprendizaje en el salón de clases, en el hogar y en la comunidad. Las identidades, los conocimientos del hogar, de las culturas, y de las comunidades de todos los estudiantes se valoran y se utilizan para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje en la biblioteca.
• Haré todo lo que pueda para lograr mantener a los alumnos "absortos en la lectura" recomendando materiales de lectura específicos a cada estudiante siempre que sea posible.
• Agregaré cientos de los más recientes libros para lectores jóvenes en español e inglés incluso libros que los estudiantes han solicitado.
• Los estudiantes aprenderán habilidades de investigación e informática específicamente adaptadas a sus necesidades de desarrollo. Las lecciones enfatizarán la buena Ciudadanía Digital, ayudándoles a los alumnos a tomar decisiones seguras y éticas al usar Internet.
• Apoyaré el aprendizaje social y emocional de los estudiantes mediante la literatura y la incorporación de la atención plena, las técnicas de respiración y el movimiento consciente en nuestras lecciones de biblioteca.
• Trabajaré con los maestros para ayudarlos a encontrar materiales especialmente adecuados para los intereses y habilidades de cada alumno.
• Habrá eventos especiales planificados que incluyen: visitas de autores, lectores invitados, día de disfraces de personajes de libros, obsequios de libros múltiples, Reading Across Genres Bingo (Bingo para promover leer diversos géneros) y Readathon.

¡Estoy emocionada y comprometida hacer que la biblioteca sea el lugar favorito en la escuela de los estudiantes!
